CLP is a multi-purpose agent. Like any multi-purpose item, it does not excel in any particular area. It performs poorly in cleaning, is a substandard lubricant compared to many purpose-specific modern weapon lubricants, and does ok as a protectant. Too bad the Army feels having one slightly inadequate product is better than 2 or 3 high quality mission-specific tools.
